How a GMT works
A GMT watch adds an hour hand that turns once every 24 hours. Set it to home time and read it against a 24-hour bezel or dial ring, while the main hands keep local time. On many models the main hour hand jumps in one-hour steps without stopping the watch, so changing time zone takes seconds. A rotating bezel adds a third zone: turn it by the time difference and read the 24-hour hand against it. The name comes from Greenwich Mean Time, once the world's reference time.
