How a skeleton works
A skeleton watch has its movement cut away so the dial side shows the wheels, bridges and springs. The plates and bridges are pierced and then finished by hand or by machine, often with bevelled edges and engraving. The watch works exactly like a closed one. The thinner bridges can make skeleton movements harder to finish well, so quality varies a lot between makers.
