How a annual calendar works
An annual calendar knows which months have 30 days and which have 31, so it only needs setting once a year, on 1 March. It does not know about the length of February, which is the difference from a perpetual calendar. That makes the mechanism simpler, and the watch is usually less costly and easier to service. Typical displays are the date, the day and the month.
