About the Rolex Submariner
The Submariner dates from 1953 and was shown publicly at the Basel watch fair in 1954. Rolex conceived it as a diver's watch, combining the waterproof Oyster case and screw-down crown with a self-winding movement, luminous hour markers and a rotating bezel for tracking time underwater. Early references such as the 6204 and 6205 were rated to 100 metres. In 2020 Rolex moved the collection to a 41mm case, with calibre 3230 in the no-date Submariner and calibre 3235 in the Submariner Date, in steel, Rolesor and 18 carat gold. These models are water resistant to 300 metres, with a Triplock crown and a unidirectional Cerachrom ceramic bezel insert.
