About Watchnik
Watchnik is an independent reference for watch specifications, movements and production history. It is not owned by, sponsored by or affiliated with any watch brand or retailer.
What Watchnik is
Watchnik lists watches by model and by reference number, with the case, dial, movement and production details of each one in plain tables. Movements and complications have their own pages, so a calibre or a function can be followed across brands.
Where a detail is not yet confirmed it says so, instead of showing a guess.
Independent of every brand and retailer
Brand names are used to identify the watches they make. A brand cannot pay to be listed, to be ranked higher or to change what a page says. Retailers are named only as the source of a listing, and are never described as manufacturers.
How the site is funded is explained in the advertising and affiliate disclosure.
How the data is checked
A value is published only when it comes from the manufacturer or from two independent sources that agree. Where sources conflict, the value is hidden. Sources and methodology explains each step.
