About the Rolex GMT-Master II
The GMT-Master II was introduced in 1982 as a development of the GMT-Master, the watch Rolex created in the 1950s with Pan Am for its pilots on long-distance flights. The first reference, 16760, used the new calibre 3085, which allowed the 12-hour hand to be set independently of the 24-hour hand, so local time could be moved in one-hour steps while the 24-hour hand kept a second time zone. A rotating bezel, read against the 24-hour hand, completes the display. In 2018 Rolex released the steel reference 126710 BLRO with a 40mm case, a red and blue ceramic bezel and the self-winding calibre 3285.
