About the TAG Heuer Carrera
Heuer introduced the Carrera chronograph in 1963. It was conceived by Jack Heuer and named after the Carrera Panamericana road race in Mexico. The design put legibility first for racing drivers: the scale was printed on a tension ring around the edge of the dial rather than on the dial itself. In 2023, sixty years after the original, TAG Heuer introduced 39mm Glassbox chronographs, named for their domed sapphire crystal. They use the automatic calibre TH20-00, which runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour with an 80-hour power reserve and is an evolution of the in-house Heuer 02.
