About the Seiko King Seiko
King Seiko was born in 1961 at Seiko's Daini Seikosha factory in Tokyo as a high-grade mechanical watch, developed in parallel with Grand Seiko. The 1965 KSK added a hacking seconds hand and set the design cues still used: sharp case lines, broad lugs and a knurled 12 o'clock index. Production stopped for a time, and Seiko revived the name in 2022 as its flagship collection. The current range has three series. KSK and KS1969 use the automatic calibre 6L35 in 38.6 mm and 39.4 mm cases. VANAC, based on a 1972 design, adds the 72 hour calibre 8L45 in a 41 mm case.
