About the TAG Heuer Monaco

Heuer introduced the Monaco in 1969 as the first chronograph in a square, water-resistant case, developed with the case maker Piquerez. It housed the Calibre 11, an automatic chronograph movement developed by Heuer with Breitling, Büren and Dubois Dépraz, and its crown was placed on the left side of the case. Steve McQueen wore a Monaco ref. 1133B in the 1971 film Le Mans, which did much to establish the model. Later re-editions powered by modern Calibre 11 movements have revived the left-hand crown, and several recall the blue dial associated with McQueen.
