About the Seiko Astron
The Astron name goes back to 25 December 1969, when Seiko marketed the Quartz Astron, which it describes as the world's first quartz watch. Seiko revived the name in 2012 for its first Astron GPS Solar watch. Current Astron GPS Solar models connect to the GPS network to set the time zone at the press of a button and run on light alone. Most cases are titanium with a super-hard coating. Calibres include the 3X62, the 5X53 dual-time, the 5X63 dual-time chronograph and the 5X83, and most run for about six months on a full charge. Seiko lists cases from 39 mm to 44.1 mm, water resistant to 10 or 20 bar.
