About the Rolex Oyster Perpetual
The Oyster Perpetual combines two early Rolex developments: the Oyster case of 1926, the first waterproof wristwatch case, and the Perpetual self-winding movement introduced in 1931. As a model line it is the simplest in the Rolex catalogue, a time-only watch. A 2020 update brought lacquer dials in bright colours and a 41mm model in place of the 39mm, with calibre 3230 in the 41mm and 36mm sizes and smaller sizes alongside them. In 2026, the centenary of the Oyster case, Rolex released a 41mm Oyster Perpetual in Rolesor, combining steel with yellow gold.
