About the Rolex Air-King
The Air-King was introduced in 1945 as a tribute to the pilots of the Royal Air Force, and it is the only survivor of a series of Rolex Air models that also included the Air-Lion, Air-Tiger and Air-Giant. For most of its history it was a simple, time-only Oyster with a 34mm case, positioned as an entry point to the Rolex range. After a break from 2014, Rolex brought it back in 2016 as the 40mm reference 116900, with a dial modelled on the instruments Rolex designed for the Bloodhound land speed record car. Reference 126900 replaced it in 2022 with a fully redesigned 40mm case water resistant to 100 metres.
