Aquanaut Chronograph

Patek Philippe calls the 5968G the first white gold version of the Aquanaut flyback chronograph. It came in 2021, three years after the steel watch, and Patek also makes it in rose gold.

The movement is the calibre CH 28-520 C, a self-winding flyback chronograph with a column wheel and a vertical clutch. Side by side with the steel version, the white gold case has a slightly richer shine. At launch it cost about half as much again as the steel watch.

The gold watch is delivered with a single composite strap fitted with a white gold fold-over clasp. The steel watch comes with more than one strap, so if you want a spare for the gold one, you buy it separately.

About the Patek Philippe Aquanaut

Patek Philippe introduced the Aquanaut in 1997 as a statement of casual elegance. Its case and rounded octagonal bezel recall the Nautilus, while its most distinctive feature is an embossed checkerboard pattern that runs from the dial onto the strap. The strap is made of a composite material designed to resist wear, salt water and UV light. Cases combine polished and satin-brushed finishes. The Aquanaut Luce, with a diamond-set bezel, followed in 2004 and is offered in steel or gold with quartz or mechanical movements. The current range includes men's and women's models in several sizes, among them complications such as the Travel Time and the chronograph.
