About the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch

Omega introduced the Speedmaster in 1957 as a sports and racing chronograph. The first model, the CK 2915, used the calibre 321 movement and carried its tachymeter scale on the bezel. Wally Schirra wore his own Speedmaster on the Mercury mission of October 1962, and in 1965 NASA qualified the watch for all manned space missions after a series of tests. It was worn on the lunar surface during Apollo 11 in July 1969. The current Moonwatch Professional has a 42mm asymmetrical case, a black step dial, a tachymeter bezel and the manual-winding Co-Axial calibre 3861, certified as a Master Chronometer by METAS.
